Hearty congratulations to Gortletteragh who were crowned the Gallogly Catering ACL Division 2 winners today when they defeated neighbours Bornacoola in a close and entertaining contest on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-13.

It has been a great year for the Gorletteragh club as they also won the Intermediate Championship and their minors were part of the successful Fenagh/Gortletteragh team who won the Minor A Final.

Well done Gortletteragh.

Bornacoola and Gortletteragh make a welcome return to Division 1 league football next season having finished as the top two teams in Division 2 this year.  This Sunday they meet in the Gallogly Catering All County Division 2 League Final at 2.00pm in Páirc Seán to decide on the destination of the Division 2 League trophy.

A look at the two teams

Bornacoola have the advantage of playing in the senior championship this year where they topped their group and were unfortunate to go out at the quarter final stages to the eventual champions Melvin Gaels, a game they lost by a solitary point.  Most pundits would consider them to be one of the top senior championship sides in the County.

Gortletteragh on the other hand come into this game as the 2012 GWP Leitrim Intermediate Champions and make a welcome return to senior championship football next year.  Their performance in that championship and the subsequent Connacht Club Intermediate Championship at the end of October drew many admirers from within and outside the County.

In the League the two teams met at the Bornacoola grounds way back on the 4th of March whenÓgortletteragh recorded a 0-7 to 1-8 away win.  Its all to play for on Sunday in the League Final.  This game is set to be an intriguing contest between two teams brimming with talented players.

CanÓgortletteragh do the League and Championship Double or will the Bors bring their much respected championship form to the table and put a halt to the double?

Neighbours Glencar Manorhamilton and Melvin Gaels meet in the Gallogly Catering All County Division 1 League Final this Sunday at 2.30pm in Páirc Seán.

This will be the fourth time this season the two teams have met.  In the Connacht Gold Senior Championship they drew in the group game and in the county final Melvin Gaels halted the Glencar Manorhamilton “Drive for Five” with a powering 2-7 to 0-7 win to lift the Fenagh Cup for the first time since 1998.  In the League they met in the Bee Park back on the 12th of May and on home soil Glencar Manorhamilton emerged victorious with a 1-11 to 2-6 win after a thrilling hours entertainment.

So from three games its a win a piece and a draw between the arch rivals.  The Gaels have brought home the biggest prize of the year – the championship title.  Will they add to their trophy cabinet and do the double or will the Manor men put a halt to the double and gain some measure of revenge for their championship defeat?
