LEITRIM SENIOR HURLING FINAL
Cluainín Iomáint 1-11 Carrick 0-12
Cluainín claimed their first Leitrim Senior Hurling title in 53 years when they narrowly defeated Carrick at Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday.
The only goal of the game, which went the way of the eventual champions, came in the ninth minute from Niall McLoughlin. Cluainín were dominant in the first half however, Carrick rallied well in the second half and actually led by 0-12 to 1-8 with 14 minutes remaining, thanks to a score from Clement Cunniffe.
Cluainín finished strongly, though, with a free from CaptainÓgary Hickey drawing them level in the 57th minute, before points from Man of the Match Michael Poniard and Mícheál Dolan sealed a famous win for the Manorhamilton outfit.
Great scenes of celebrationÓgreeted the final whistle and it was poignant that Gary Hickey lifted the cup alongside the last man to captain Manorhamilton to a Hurling Championship victory in 1959, namely Eugene Gilroy.
We take this opportunity to congratulate Cluainín and wish them the very best of luck as they host the Sligo champions Calry St Josephs this Bank Holiday Monday at 2.30 in Páirc Seán in the semi final of the AIB Connacht Club Junior Hurling Championship.

GWP Leitrim Junior A Football Championship Final
Club FootballCongratulations to Leitrim Gaels who were crowned GWP Leitrim Junior A Football Champions for 2012 in Cloone today when they defeated Gortletteragh in a hugely entertaining final on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-11.
The success of one of our long established clubs, Gortletteragh, in capturing the Intermediate Championship this year and moving on to Senior status left a vacancy to be filled in next years Intermediate Championship. Remarkably, Gortletteragh themselves were hoping to fill the void but that was not to be as one of our youngest clubs, Leitrim Gaels will now fill the void. Judging on todays performance they will not be found wanting in next years Intermediate Championship.
Leitrim Gaels now represent Leitrim in the AIB Connacht Club Junior Football Championship where they meet the Galway champions next weekend (venue TBC).
We take this opportunity to again congratulate them on winning their first major trophy since they were formed in 1997 and wish them the very best of luck on the road in Connacht.

Junior A Championship Final
Club FootballThe eagerly awaited Junior A Championship Final takes place this Sunday at 3pm in Cloone with Leitrim Gaels and Gortletteragh meeting in the decider.
Both teams will be hoping to take the honours and move up to the Intermediate ranks in 2013. A huge crowd is expected at the Cloone venue and we wish both teams the best of luck on the day.
Both teams were undefeated in the group stages and had comprehensive wins in their quarter and semi final games. Gortletteragh will be hoping to add to their 2012 Intermediate Championship success and win the Junior A title for the second time in their history having last won it in 2000 while for Leitrim Gaels they will be hoping to win the title for the first time since their club was formed in 1997.
