At the Mater Hospital, surrounded by his loving family (after a long illness bravely borne).
Deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary (nee Coen) daughter Collette, sons Stephen, Anthony, Darren and Ciarán, sisters Veronica (Ballinamore) Evelyn, Deirdre and Eleanor (USA) Frances (Lucan) and Leah (Croom), uncle, aunts, father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence from 12 noon until 4.30pm this Wednesday afternoon. Family time before removal which will arrive to St. Marys Church, Carrigallen at 8.15pm.  Funeral Mass on Thursday morning 22nd November at 11am followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.  Family flowers only please.  Donations if desired to The Leukaemia Trust, c/o St. Jamess Hospital, Dublin 8

Championship Honours for Glencar Manorhamilton

Congratulations to Glencar Manorhamilton who were crowned the GWP Leitrim Junior B Football Champions for 2012 in Páirc Seán today (Sunday 18th Nov) when they defeated St Marys on a final scoreline of 2-10 to 1-3.  Both teams contributed to a very entertaining contest with attractive, open play on display from both sides.  The Man of the Match Award was awarded to Glencar Manors centre forward Evan Sweeney and team captain Cian McManus lifted the Cup on behalf of the Glencar Manorhamilton team and to the obvious delight of their large number of supporters.

GWP Leitrim Junior B Football Championship Final

St Marys and Glencar Manorhamilton contest the GWP Leitrim Junior B Football Championship Final this Sunday (18th Nov) at 2pm in Páirc Seán.

Both teams will be well familiar with each other having already met in the group stages where St Marys recorded a 1-8 to 0-6 Group 1 win on the 2nd of September.  St Marys ended up topping the group unbeaton on 6 points with Manor in second place on 4 points.

Both teams play open, attractive football so an entertaining contest is on the cards.  May the best team win.

Throw in 2pm in Páirc Seán (extra time if necessary).

Congratulations to the Mohill team who were successful in defeating Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins in last Sundays Under 16 Championship 13-a-side “A” Final in Carrigallen.

Gallogly Catering ACL Division 1 League Final

Neighbours Glencar Manorhamilton and Melvin Gaels meet in the Gallogly Catering All County Division 1 League Final this Sunday at 2.30pm in Páirc Seán.  

This will be the fourth time this season the two teams have met.  In the Connacht Gold Senior Championship they drew in the group game and in the county final Melvin Gaels halted the Glencar Manorhamilton “Drive for Five” with a powering 2-7 to 0-7 win to lift the Fenagh Cup for the first time since 1998.  In the League they met in the Bee Park back on the 12th of May and on home soil Glencar Manorhamilton emerged victorious with a 1-11 to 2-6 win after a thrilling hours entertainment.

So from three games its a win a piece and a draw between the arch rivals.  The Gaels have brought home the biggest prize of the year – the championship title.  Will they add to their trophy cabinet and do the double or will the Manor men put a halt to the double and gain some measure of revenge for their championship defeat?

AIB Connacht Club Championships

In recent weeks our Senior and Junior Football champions and our Senior Hurling champions were all on provincial club duty in the AIB Club Championships.  Unfortunately, Melvin Gaels in the Senior, Leitrim Gaels in the Junior and Cluainín Iomaint in the Hurling were all defeated in their opening round games.  

Last Sunday Gortletteragh were the last team to fly the Leitrim Flag in McHale Park, Castlebar against Charlestown of Mayo in the AIB Connacht Intermediate Football Championship.  Despite a brave attempt on the day, Gortletteragh came out the wrong side of a 1-13 to 3-15 scoreline.  The  scoreline didnt reflect the closeness of the contest with Charlestown Scóring two late goals.  The Man of the Match Award was rightly awarded to Gortletteraghs Cathal McCrann and well done to Cathal on his terrific performance. 

Gortletteraghs defeat ends Leitrims participation in the Connacht Club Championship for another year.

Tourism Innovation in Leitrim

U12 Blitz Day Postponed

Unfortunately, the U12 Blitz Day scheduled for last Saturday 3rd November was postponed due to the inclement weather. We apologise to all clubs for any inconvenience this may have caused.

For 2013 we will have to look into having this Blitz played earlier in the year and hopefully not be at the mercy of such bad weather.
