County Hurling

The county senior hurlers will play Fermanagh this Sunday in Ballinamore at 2.30 in their final game of the Allianz Hurling league. With many injuries in the squad Martin Cunniffe and his players will have a tough task to beat a strong Fermanagh team who are third behind South Down and Tyrone. The Fermanagh men need a win to be in with a shout to gain promotion if results go their way. Leitrim will be hoping to replenish their confidence after their defeat to South Down and a win would give them the confidence they need going into the championship.

Ulster Hurling League

Cluainín Iomáint battled hard last Saturday against a tough Rasharkin (Antrim) team. It was all to play for at half time with the scoreline of 2.04 to 6points in favour of the Antrim men. Manor were lifted with a well takenÓgoal by Michael McKeon and looked like they would take victory but Rasharkins experience prevailed with some well taken scores in the closing minutes of the game. Final score Cluainín Iomáint 1.08 Rasharkin 2.10 Cluainín Iomáint will play Castleblaney in Manorhamilton on April 2nd. Leitrim staged a mighty comeback in the second half of this game to win by one point.  Conor Kelly scored the winner in injury time to break Fermanagh hearts.  Fermanagh led by 0-7 to 0-1 at half time but Leitrim were playing against a strong wind and the lack of competitive action over the last 4 weekends was evident in their play. Fermanagh were reduced to 14 men in the second half but Leitrim with the aid of the breeze and a much better all round team performance recorded their 3rd win from 4 outings in the Allianz campaign.  Next up is Carlow at home next weekend and promotion prospects are still very much alive.

This year we celebrate 25 years of the Leitrim Supporters Club and over the 25 years the Leitrim supporters have proved themselves to be the most loyal, committed and generous of any supporters in the country:-

Eamon Duignan, Chairman of the Dublin Branch of the Leitrim Supporters Club tells us "In the very first supporters club draw in 1986 we had 2,000 members and we raised €100,000. Tickets were £100 pound each with monthly prizes of cars for 12 monthly draws. Last year we had 2,200 members in our club. This year we are hoping to get 2,500 who will all wear the special 25th anniversary Scórf"  Eamon also goes on to reveal the true extent of our supporters generosity over the last 10 years:-

*  Total contributed by supporters over the last 10 years € 2,000,000

*  € 120,000 on average per year over the last ten years

*  Supporters donated € 900,000 towards new stand in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada

Our supporters have not only contributed to the day to day financing of the board but also to the infrastructure in the county which will benefit the GAA and the county for many years to come.  So being part of the Leitrim Supporters Club really does make a difference.  If you want to become a member of our Club please make contact with your club officials or with me on 086 6020192 or email pro.leitrim@gaa.ie

Two Leitrim venues will be hives of GAA activity this weekend as Leitrim compete in the Connacht Minor Football League, Cadbury’s Connacht U21 Football Championship Semi Final and Allianz Football League.

All roads lead to Shane McGettigan Park and Páirc Seán this weekend as the Minor team take on Sligo in their first game in the Connacht League, our U21’s do battle with Roscommon in the Cadbury’s Connacht U21 Championship semi final and the Seniors host neighbours Fermanagh in Round 6 of the Allianz League.

MINOR
The Minor team take on Sligo in the first round of the Connacht Minor League on Saturday. Under the guidance of Damian Eames and PJ Clancy our young guns will be hoping to get their campaign off to a winning start. Leitrim performed very well in the League last year and will be hoping to build on their 2010 performances. A home win would be the ideal start.
Throw-in at 12 noon on Saturday in Shane McGettigan Park, Drumshanbo.

U21
Our U21 team host Roscommon in the Cadbury’s Connacht U21 Football Championship semi final this Saturday. Roscommon defeated a highly rated Mayo outfit in their preliminary game last weekend on a score-line of 0-11 to 0-9. While the visitors have the advantage of that game under their belts our boys are well prepared and have home advantage and the loyal Leitrim supporters behind them. Leitrim under the management team of Mickey Moran, Martin McGowan, Jimmy Holohan and Barney Breen will be hoping to cause an upset in this game as Roscommon carry the favourites tag. Come on lads – ye can do it.
Throw-in at 2.30 on Saturday in Páirc Seán.

SENIOR
The senior team host Fermanagh in the Allianz League on Sunday. We have billed this game as "when neighbours meet" and if either neighbour are to be in the hunt for promotion – this is a must winÓgame. The last time the sides met in the Allianz League was back in 2008 when Fermanagh scored a vital win (2-09 to 3-10) over us on our home turf. Leitrim are at the disadvantage of not having played a game since the 20th of February while Fermanagh come fresh from defeat at the hands of Roscommon last weekend and will be hoping to turn their season around on Leitrim soil. The league table shows Fermanagh lying in 7th place on 3 points from 4 outings while Leitrim are in 5th place on 4 points with 3 games played. A large crowd is expected at the venue and we anticipate a rip-roaring contest.
Throw-in at 2.30 on Sunday in Páirc Seán.

PLEASE COME OUT TO SUPPORT ALL THE TEAMS AND DON’T FORGET TO SHOW YOUR COUNTY COLOURS BY WEARING YOUR LEITRIM SUPPORTERS CLUB ScórF.
