Kelloggs are offering you and your community the chance to transform your local playing field into a true sporting crucible. Right across Ireland dreams of sporting glory could really come alive.

The winner will get a playing field makeover worth € 100,000 – thats more than enough for better drainÓge, new turf and posts. Kelloggs and an expert panel of judges will select a club, community or college finalist from each province in Ireland and a public vote will decide the ultimate winner. The 4 finalists will feature on RTE television and each will be mentored by one of the Kelloggs Field of Dreams celebrity champions: Ireland rugby player Rob Kearney and RTE presenters Marty Morrissey, Tracy Piggott and Jacqui Hurley. 3 runners up will each win  10,000 worth of professional groundsmanship with expert advice on making the most of their prize.

For the chance to win the Kelloggs Field of Dreams, each club collects tokens from the special packs of Kelloggs Corn Flakes, Kelloggs Crunchy Not or Kelloggs Crunchy Nut Feast. If your club has 149 members, collect 500 tokens, if your club has 150 – 249 members, collect 700 tokens and if your club has 250 members or more, collect 900 tokens. The tokens should be given to your clubs Kelloggs Field of Dreams ambassador. Your ambassador will create your clubs entry online using videos, photos and anything else that might help entrants make it all the way to the final.

Four provincial finalists will be chosen in August 2010 with the winners decided by public vote in November.

Kelloggs wants to get clubs, schools and the wider community involved in Kelloggs Field of Dreams. Its a great way to bring people together and to foster community feeling. With everyone working together a sporting dream can go anywhere – on the right field anything is possible.

The Title and Lyrics for the song pencilled in memory of Philly.  It was aired for the first time at Phillys Months Mind Mass at the weekend and will be recorded in the next few weeks with proceeds to Philly McGuinness Memorial Park.

Fág an bealach le Philly.

Lyrics by Matt Gaffey Gerry Mc Loughlin & Rachel Mc Loughlin.
Music by Rachel Mc Loughlin.

The bright young star hadnt reached his prime,
When the Lord in his wisdom early called time.
We mourn his departure we are sad and we sigh,
For hes signed up to play for the All Saints on high.

Philly McGuinness was the young mans name.
He was a hero of Mohill and Leitrim fame.
Philly its so sad and a sinful shame,
That you shall no longer grace our GAA game.

Chorus:

Fág an tine, Fear an tì.
Fág an bealach le Philly.
Glás agus bán ag shèideadh sa gaoth,
Fág an bealach le Philly.

To his team mates Philly was a priceless treasure,
His value to the team impossible to measure.
A royal role model with energy and skill,
All the youngsters loved him and always will.

We will miss those red locks as you jumped so high,
When you grabbed the ball from the bright blue sky.
You shoot and the green flag is waved up high,
Golden Philly turns to cheers and he punches the sky.

Chorus

On that faithful day, as you played so well,
With your number 10, nobody could tell,
That an accidental blow could cause so many to cry.
Oh Philly, dear Philly you were too young to die.

With regret and sadness you are gone to your reward,
It remains for the analysts your greatness to record,
Philly youve been chosen now to joinÓgods team,
Your memory lives forever you were the finest ever seen.

Chorus x 2.

Repeat Last Line in English………. Leave the way for Philly.

Our under 8 & 10 go-games club blitz will continue on Saturday next 8th May at 10.30am.The purpose of these blitzs is to afford all children meaningful playing time thus ensuring they have a very positive experience of gaelic games and we would expect all clubs to treat the blitz in this manner. Schools of Excellence & Development squads

Under 14

U-14 school of excellence will commence on Saturday May 15th. Management of the squad have been attending U-14 league games over the past few weeks and will be in touch with clubs during the week about players suitable for this grade.

Under 15

Our U-15 school of excellence will continue on Monday next @ 7.30pm in Ballinaglera. All players from last years U-14 squad are asked to attend as a panel will be formed after the next few sessions. Colin Regan and Derek Kelleher will manÓge this squad for 2010.

Under 16

The U-16 development squad commenced on Saturday last in Kiltubrid with a great turnout. Players are asked to ensure they attend the next few sessions as a panel will also be formed at this level. The next session will be on Saturday next @ 12 noon in Kiltubrid.

Under 17

The session planned for Saturday last could not take place due to the very poor turnout on the morning. This was indeed very disappointing for those who did turn up and while we are very aware of the demands on players at this time of year, players should also be aware of the demands on mentors and coaches. For a generation proficient in the art of text, communication would have been much appreciated. To the lads who made the effort to turn up in Leitrim we apologise. As a result, the U-17 development squad has been postponed till September.

Club Super touch blitz
