Congratulations to Leitrim Gaels who captured the under 14 Div 3 11 aside title in Pairc Sean on Wednesday evening over Aughnasheelin.  In beautiful sunshine both teams battled hard and contested every ball but it was the Gaels who dominated play and went in at half time on a score line of 1-08 to Aughnasheelin’s 1-02. In the second half Leitrim Gaels continued to pick off some fine scores but at the other end Aughnasheelin were very unlucky to see goal chances blasted wide  and on at least two occasions come back off the crossbar despite their best efforts to score. An entertaining cleanÓgame of football that ended on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-03.The teams lined out as follows,Leitrim Gaels; Peter Fitzpatrick, Brian Mc Elgunn, Patrick Flynn, Blake Walsh, Mark Brehony, Enda Moreton, Shane Rogerson, Thomas Harden, David Bruen, Shaun Chandler, RyanÓgoldrick. Congratulations to Sean Ó hEislin-Béal an Átha Móir on winning the under 14 (15 aside) final versus Annaduff this eveningA good crowd gathered in Pairc Sean on a glorious evening to watch and support both teams. It was Annaduff who were first off the mark with a goal in the first few minutes  but Ballinamore replied  with a point and 3 goals in quick succession. The game was played at a very fast pace and both teams are to be complemented for a very clean and sporting game of football. Despite Annaduff’s best efforts it was Ballinamore who dominated the game   the 45th minute they kept trying and scored 3-03 in the last quarter, the game ending on a scoreline of 6-15 to 4-03.The teams lined out as follows,Ballinamore; Fergal Curran, Mark O’Reilly, Brian Leydon, Adam Goldrick,Barry Mc Govern, Niall Mc Govern, James Hamill, Dean Mc Govern,Donal Feely, Paddy Connaughton, Luke Murphy, Oisin Mc Caffrey, Kevin Mullins, Peter Reynolds, Conor Maxwell. This years Minor A Championship Final (15 aside) will be contested by St Francis and St Marys.  The eagerly awaited final will be the curtain raiser to the Senior Championship Final in Pairc Sean on Sunday September 26th.  St Francis topped the group of six with 9 points (4 wins/1 draw) while St Marys were group runners-up on 7 points (3 wins/1 defeat/1 draw). When the two teams met in the group stages they could not be separated drawing 1-10 apiece so the final is sure to be a close affair.
This weekend the quarter finals of the GWP Junior A Championship takes center stage. On Saturday evening Gortletteragh face Leitrim Gaels in Cloone while Ballinamore SOH make the short journey to Aughnasheelin to take on North Leitrim opponents Drumkeerin. Meanwhile the Fenagh club grounds will host the meeting between Allen Gaels and Carrigallen. Throw in times for the three Saturday evening games as per the fixtures section on this website (please ignore times in the Leitrim Observer as late alterations had to be made owing to clashes with Ladies Football Fixtures). On Sunday Pairc Sean will host the last quarter final between Eslin and Melvin Gaels at 2pm.
While the first team clubs of Eslin and Leitrim Gaels are hotly tipped to advance the other teams will hope they can produce match winning performances. Interestingly, Drumkerrin are the only club with a team left in the higher grade as all the rest have seen their teams exit either the Intermediate or Senior Championships.
The Junior A relegation semi finals sees Bornacoola take on St Marys and Annaduff versus Mohill. The group stages of the GWP Junior B Championship continues this weekend. May the best teams win.

The Semi Final line-up for the GWP Intermediate Championship will see Dromahair do battle with neighbours Drumkeerin whilst on the other side of the draw Aughawillan face neighbours Aughnasheelin.  Dromahair had eight points to spare over Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher but the scoreline didn’t reflect a match that was there for the taking with 15 minutes to go.  Aughawillan were impressive in their 1-7 to 7 points win over a battling Gortletteragh side while Glencar Manorhamilton were unlucky not to bring their tie with Aughnasheelin to a replay after staging a dramatic comeback only to lose by a point.  Drumkerrin showed great battling qualities but will consider themselves lucky to have overcome a shell shocked Ballinaglera who led at one stage by 9 points.  Drumkeerin’s winning margin was a goal in the end.  One thing we are sure of is that the Final will see a North Leitrim team take on a South Leitrim team.

In the Connacht Gold Senior Championship, Annaduff and St Marys will come head to head in the first semi final in what is set to be a mouth watering clash.  Annaduff breezed into the semi final after defeating Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins by 7 points. Ballinamore simply did not do themselves justice but they will learn and come back stronger. St Marys were made fight all the way for their 2 point victory by a battling Kiltubrid side who despite their best efforts could not register that all important last minute goal.  Glencar Manor will be interesting observers at this weekends replayed quarter final match between Bornacoola and Mohill after defeating Carrigallen in a match full of quality.  The place to be this weekend is Cloone as the Bors and Mohill come head to head again to decide the last semi-final spot.  It is sure to be a battle royale!  Extra time if necessary.
Elsewhere in the senior relegation semi finals Cloone accounted for Allen Gaels thus ensuring their senior status for next year.  Allen Gaels must now contest the Relegation Final and they await the outcome of the replay between Melvin Gaels and Drumreilly this weekend to see who their opponents will be.  In the Intermediate relegation semi-finals both St Marys and Aughavas survived and the relegation final will now be contested by Annaduff and Fenagh St Caillins.
