Scór na nÓg Final Results

The County Finals of Scór na nÓg took place last Sunday in the Community Centre in Ballinamore. Fourteen clubs were on stage as almost 160 participants provided the best in Irish cultural activity, music, song and dance.

It was great to see such a packed hall and with the cream of the crop of leitrims finest entertainment provided for the audience.  The adjudicators had a difficult job to do to settle on winners, as the standard was very high in all events. All of the winners received Scór medals presented by James Glancy of the Glencar-Manorhamilton Club and Leitrim County Player. Also, all participants received a Scór na nÓg Certificate indicating that they had participated in the County Finals.

A special mention must be given to the Fenagh Set Dancers who scooped the Leitrim Title for their 10th year running, a fine achievement by the Club.

Thank you to Fear a Tí for the night, Karl McCartin from Drumreilly who did an excellent job and helped to keep the event running smoothly for the afternoon. Overall, Scór na nÓg in Leitrim is a credit to the Clubs and Coiste Scór Liatroma for the effort they put into the event. The Cormac MacGiolla Shield for Club na Bliana was won by the Aughnasheelan club and was presented to Brendan Sammon.

The Connacht Finals are being held in Banada, Co Mayo this Saturday 23rd January at 3pm.  The Leitrim winners were:-

U21 HASTINGS CUP

The Leitrim V Cavan Hastings Cup game scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday 16/1/10) at 2pm has been switched to 3G Park, Breffni Park, Cavan.

The Hastings Cup Fixtures listed in the Next 4 Fixtures Section of this Website are now incorrect.

Gaeltacht Scholarships

Leitrim Co Board GAA is offering Gaeltacht Scholarships to Leitrim boys and girls as part of their promotion an ghaeilge.

These grants are open to registered and paid-up members of Leitrim clubs, boys or girls. There will be twelve grants in all available. Coiste Scór Liatroma sponsors four of these grants which are confined to young people who participated in Scór na nÓg this year. Anyone who received a scholarship in previous years is not eligible to apply again.

A draw will be made from the applications received at the February meeting of the Co Board and the successful candidates make their own arrangements to attend a college of their choice. When they return they can claim their scholarship money on production of evidence of having successfully completed the course.

Application forms can be printed from the Leitrim GAA website www.leitrimgaa.ie under Scór section or can be got from the Secretary of any GAA club or from Sean Ó Suilleabháin, Oifigeach Cultúir agus Teanga, (071- 9644227).  Beidh na hiarratais le fail i ngach meanscoil sa Chontae freisin

Coiste Chontae Liatroma Awards night

Coiste Chontae Liatroma Awards night will take place in the Bush Hotel on Saturday 23/1/10 at 8pm.

Tickets cost  €40 and can be ordered from An Runai, Diarmuid MacSuibhne or through Club Officials.

Scór na nÓg County Finals – RESCHEDULED

 

The county final due to take place last Sunday was rescheduled due to bad weather and road conditions. It will now takes place this Sunday 17th at 3pm in the community centre in Ballinamore. Wishing all competitors the best of luck and safe journey to the venue.

Launch of Leitrim GAA Supporters Club 2010

County Finals of Scór na nÓg

The County Finals of Scór na nÓg take place this Sunday January 10th, in the Bee Park Centre, Manorhamilton starting at 3.pm. Fourteen clubs will be on stage as almost 160 participants provide the best in Irish cultural activity, music, song, dance and drama from the clubs of the county.

The winners of each category will go forward to represent Leitrim in the Connacht Finals in Mayo on Saturday 23rd of January.

County Board meeting – rescheduled

The U21 Hastings Cup game against Cavan is also POSTPONED – (we are awaiting the change to be reflected on the official fixture as shown on our site which is fed from the new national fixtures system).

FBD Insurance League start is postponed

Please note that due to hazardous driving conditions and having checked the Weather Forecast for the weekend Connacht GAA Council has postponed the start of the FBD Insurance League until Sunday 17th January.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !

 

As my final official message on this site in a PROs capacity, I would like to thank all of the thousands of visitors to the site over the last number of years who keep coming back to us on a regular basis. To the many contributors from the various sections and sub committees, to the webteam and in particular James Molloy and Brian Blake who have added a whole new dimension to the site with their photo and video galleries.  To the County Board officers who have supported all of our IT initiatives and given me that support without quibble, to the many media contacts who have been very courteous and helpful throughout the 4 years and in particular thanks to our local media – Shannonside, Ocean FM and The Leitrim Observer.

I now hand over the PRO reins to the very capable Colette Fox who will be providing all of the PRO duties from here on, I will however remain in the background as IT Officer and one of the duties will involve the continuous development of this and other Leitrim related sites.
