Referee Foundation Level.
Due to the very poor response from clubs we have no option but to postpone the Foundation level referee course planned for this Friday evening. We would appeal once more to all clubs to forward names of those within their club who would like to try their hand at refereeing or to any others not attached to clubs, to Thomas Keenan 087-6591049 or Seamus Prior 086-6016086 within the next few days. The delay in commencing this course is very unfair on those who have already submitted their names.
Under 13 skills development.

We will advise all players who took part in last years under 12 skills days of the new date through their clubs and through our local media. We are sorry for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause.

Connacht Scór Finals
ScórFor the second year in succession the Connacht Scór Sinsear Finals are taking place in Leitrim. Last year they were in Ballinamore and this year they are in Manorhamilton. This is recognition that Leitrim is now the powerhouse of senior Scór in the province, indeed Leitrim is probably the only county that will be represented in all eight disciplines this year. The finals are in the Bee Park Centre on Saturday next starting at 6.00pm.
Leitrim will be strongly represented in all eight disciplines and it will be a major surprise if Leitrim do not win a number of titles. Last year Leitrim won five of the eight events, winning in Rince Foirne, Amhranaíocht Aonair, Ceol Uirlise, Trath na gCeist and Nuachleas. Such is the standard of Scór in Leitrim that only two of the same five clubs that won Connacht titles in 2007 have qualified out of Leitrim in 2008. Glencar/Manorhamilton are back again in Rince Foirne and Bornacoola are there again in tráth na gCeist.
In Amhranaíocht Aonair, Elaine Duignan from the Sean OHeslins club, Leitrim Gaels in Ceol Uirlise and Seán OHeslins in Nuachleas are the Leitrim representatives this year replacing Aughnasheelin, Dromahair and Fenagh respectively, all who won in Connacht last year.
Of the three disciplines where Leitrim did not win Connacht last year, Louise Staunton is back reciting for Bornacoola in the finals, Fenagh St Caillins replace Glencar/Manorhamilton in the Rince Seit and St Marys replace Aughnasheelin in Bailéad Ghrúpa. All in all it is a strong Leitrim representation and it will be a good night of entertainment all round.
Good luck to all Leitrim Scór representatives at the Connacht finals in Manorhamilton this Saturday starting at 6.00

Allianz NHL – Rd 5 – Leitrim v South Down
County HurlingSouth Down 3-11 Leitrim 2-12
Favourites South Down were pushed all the way by a resurgent Leitrim in an open and exciting encounter at windswept Pairc Sean Mhic Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday.
The home side got off to a terrific start leading 1-6 to 0-2 after 25 minutes, but when the Leitrim keeper Fintan McKiernan dropped the ball into his own net following a 65 by John Brown, it left the half-time score just 1-7 to 1-6 in Leitrims favour.
A second Leitrim goal in the 42nd minute by Colm Hayes extended their lead, but two South DownÓgoals by Jonathon McCusker and John OKane between the 44th and 48th minute put the visitors ahead for the first time and despite a late rally resulting in three Leitrim points without reply in the closing minutes, the visitors held out.

Cadburys Connacht U21 FC semi-final – Mayo v Leitrim
County FootballLeitrim dominated the first half action aided by a strong breeze in this dour affair. An early rattle of the Mayo net was not to be as the referee called a square ball and a quiet Mayo salvaged enough points to keep up with Leitrim. A goal from Emlyn Mulligan saw Leitrim go in at the interval with a two point advantage – Leitrim 1-04 Mayo 0-5 .
With the wind at their backs and what must have been an inspirational half time talk Mayo re-emerged as a team with a very different mental approach. Leitrim could all but score 1 point as Mayo took points from all angles.
Jason Dohertys 39th-minute goal was the crucial score for champions Mayo in this Cadburys Connacht U21 FC semi-final at McHale Park, Castlebar, yesterday.
Mayo closed the game out with unanswered points in the final quarter from Mikie Sweeney, Doherty (2), Thady Gavin (2), Aidan Campbell (3), and Donal Vaughan.
Final score: Mayo 1-16 Leitrim 1-05
scorers:
Mayo: J Doherty 1-2, T Gavin (2f), A Campbell 0-4 (2f) each, C Barrett 0-2, D Vaughan, B Gallagher, J Burke, M Sweeney 0-1 each.
Leitrim: E Mulligan 1-3 (0-1f), R Mulvey 0-1, R Kennedy 0-1.

Allianz National League Rd 3 – Leitrim v Sligo
County FootballLeitrim picked up their first points of the league and hopes of avoiding relegation when they comprehensively defeated Connacht champions Sligo in Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday.
In a lively first half Leitrim, minus four first-choice players through injury, were three points up without reply after 15 minutes but a brace of points from Philip Gallagher and Eamon Cawley kept the visitors in touch. However, further points from Leitrims top scorer on the day Emlyn Mulligan gave them a deserved half-time lead of 0-5 to 0-3.
Leitrim continued to dominate on the resumption and in the 49th minute, Fintan McBriens effort over the head of Phillip Greene in the Sligo goal dashed any hopes of a Sligo comeback. Their woes were compounded 10 minutes from time when Eamonn OHara was red carded.
