Leitrim GAA has been informed by Senior Team Manager Terry Hyland that he has decided to step down from the role. We wish to express our eternal gratitude to Terry and his entire backroom team, for the professional, wholehearted, and energetic manner in which they have carried out their respective duties to the team and all associated with it over the past three seasons. In his first year in charge, Terry oversaw the Allianz League promotion to Division 3 in 2019 and a rare appearance in a Croke Park Final which gave Leitrim GAA, its players, and supporters the biggest lift since the days of 1994. Over what has been the most difficult sixteen months in living memory since the onset of the Covid pandemic, Terry and his management team managed to navigate our players through difficult times for all concerned, while always respecting and abiding by the various levels of restrictions that we have experienced across these unprecedented times. Progress was inevitably affected by the huge disruptions that this caused to all involved.
Leitrim GAA is hugely appreciative and proud of its association with Terry and his professional and practical manner of dealing with both the board and its players over his three seasons in charge. We appreciate his many sacrifices on our behalf. Indeed his contribution to the activities of Leitrim GAA went way beyond those expected from a Senior Team Manager, particularly during the course of the pandemic. We will be always grateful for his very positive efforts with us and the wealth of experience he brought to the role of Leitrim Senior Team Manager. We wish Terry the very best of luck in the future.
We wish to also acknowledge the excellent contributions of Jason O Reilly, Gary Donohoe, Padraig McGourty, Kevin Downes, Padraig Dolan, Damien Eames, Colin McCabe, Shane Bohan, Fergal Wynne, Alan Loftus, and Ronan O Rourke as the various members of Terry’s backroom team over the past three years, while not forgetting the unsung heroes Leo Duignan, Kevin Lee and Brian Blake.

Leitrim GAA are sad to hear of the passing of Kitty Nangle Castleknock Dublin. Kitty was a fanatical Dub supporter married to a fanatical Leitrim supporter the late Gerry Nangle who passed away on the 25th April 2019.

On Morning Ireland on  Radio 1 in a piece compiled by Eileen Magnier  Eamonn Duignan Chairman of The LEITRIMWALL committee told the story of two bricks in the leitrimwall.

The story told was of Gerry & Kitty Nangle. Gerry from Drumshanbo met Kitty a Dub  at a dance  in the  National  Ballroom in Dublin  and Gerry left  her home.

She said  she  wasn’t  interested  in boys  she was only   16.   Friends  of hers   from Arigna were friends  of Gerry   & her name  came  up  after  being  lost  for  6years

Gerry and Kitty were married in 1963 -56 years ago

Gerry Nangle bought a brick in  the wall and his message is

Gerry Nangle Drumshanbo- 40 years a publican in Dublin – great leitrim supporter

Two weeks later Kitty asked Eamonn Duignan for a brick in the wall and Eamonn told her Gerry had bought one. She said ‘ I know , and I want to buy one as well’

Kitty a   fanatical Dublin Supporter message was  Up the Dubs- Thanks Leitrim -for Gerry

Kitty became known to everybody when she told her story to Eileen Magnier  on the RTE main evening news at the official opening of the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence.

Leitrim GAA would like to extend their sympathy to Kitty’s children ,Gerard, Caitriona, Finbarr and Paula and the entire Nangle family

CCC Liatroma has finalised the 2021 Masonite League Programme of Matches for clubs which will run from June 19 right through the month of July.  All of the 92 matches across the Leagues Divisions 1-3 and the Reserve Leagues 1-3  have been tightly scheduled across the limited timeframe for this activity to occur, in advance of the Club Championship action commencing in August. Each team is guaranteed four regular matches and it is also planned that the finals between the top two teams in each division will have taken place by the end of July. Saturday evening games will take place at 7pm, and Sunday’s action will generally take place at 1pm. Certain games have a later time on Sundays due to the fact that there are third teams of a number of clubs involved in the Reserve Leagues. It should be borne in mind that matches organised by Leitrim LGFA will have a starting time of 11am on each of the Sunday mornings and space in the calendar has been provided for this with no earlier than a 1pm throw-in time for Leitrim GAA activity.

We thank CCC Liatroma for its efforts in pulling all this together and wish all the clubs the very best of luck with the return to competitive action after over nine months of inactivity. All of the fixtures can be viewed here
