VHI C?L SUMMER CAMPS 2006
CoachingLEITRIM GAA VHI C?L SUMMER CAMPS 2006.
Our ever popular GAA summer camps are back again for 2006. This year the GAA have organised the camps on a national basis, with the VHI joining as main sponsor.
Dates and venues are now finalised for the Leitrim GAA camps. Eleven camps will take place during the month of July and will cater for children from primary school, between the ages 7 to 13yrs. C?l camps will commence on Monday 3rd July in Carrick-on-Shannon, Manorhamilton and Aughawillan. Camps will run from Monday to Friday each week.
Good news is that camp costs remain the same as last year, ? 60 per first family member and ?30 for additional family members. Due to the ever larger numbers attending the camps each year, we are asking parents to pre book camp places as we will not be able to guarantee places on the day of the camps.
Every child attending the camps will enjoy a week of GAA activities in a fun filled environment and will receive a special camp pack of jersey, togs, socks and back pack.

League Round Up:
Due to the poor weather conditions a number of games had to be called off at the weekend. In the games that went ahead in Division 1 Aughawillan continued their winning ways with a 7.09 to 2.02 win over Mohill while Kiltubrid had to withstand a strong comeback from Cloone to hold out for a one point win. Kiltubrid enjoyed a good opening half with Siobhan Kelly very accurate in front of goals and finished with a personal tally of 2.04. The final score was Kiltubrid 4.07 to 2.12 for Cloone. All three games in Division 2 were called off but in Division 3 Fenagh enjoyed a 4.17 to 0.02 win over newcomers Glenfarne while Dromahair travelled to Aughnasheelin and scored a comprehensive 7.17 to 3.01 win. Next weekend Aughawillan B and Gortlettragh meet in Division 3 of the league.
Colleges Finals:
The All Ireland Colleges finals were hosted by Dundalk IT at the weekend with a number of Leitrim players involved in the finals. In the premier competition Sharon Kerrigan from St Josephs was part of the UCD team that defeated Sligo I.T. in the O?Connor Cup Final by 6 points while Aughawillan?s Eimear McGlade and Deirdre McDermott from Mohill featured for the DCU team that comprehensively beat British Colleges Champions Liverpool in the Lynch Cup. Finally the Cavan Colleges team featuring Cloone?s Aoife Kelly were unlucky to lose the Donaghy Cup Final when they conceded two late goals to GMIT who took the title with a five point win. Well done to all concerned.
County Round Up:
After a break of four weeks Leitrim host Offaly in the final round of the league on Sunday next. A win or a draw will see Leitrim top Division 3A and earn a quarter final game against the winners of Kilkenny and Antrim two weeks later. Leitrim travelled to Portlaoise on Saturday evening last to play a challenge game against Wexford, their opponents in last years All Ireland Quarter Final. The game was a useful workout for all of the panel and ended in a a 3-7 to 0-10 win for Wexford. On Saturday next our Minor team travel to play Roscommon in the first round of the Connacht Championship. See fixtures for details of next weekends games.

Leitrim Scór Finals
ScórLeitrim Scór Finals
The Leitrim County Finals of Scór Sinsear took place Saturday night in the Bee Park Centre in Manorhamilton. There was a big crowd present and a wonderful night?s entertainment on stage.
The big winners on the night were the Aughnasheelin and Bornacoola clubs who won three titles each. The other two winners were Glencar/Manorhamilton and Leitrim Gaels.
The winners in Figure Dance were Glencar/Manorhamilton
In Solo Singing, Ann Whitne y from Leitrim Gaels was the winner. This was a historic win as it was Leitrim Gaels first ever county title in Scór at any level.
Instrumental Music was won by Aughnasheelin. This was Aughnasheelin?s first time ever to win the Music title.
Recitation: The winner was Bornacoola?s Aidan Dockery
Aughnasheelin won the Ballad Group title for the seventh successive year. Indeed Aughnasheelin have reached the All Ireland Final for the last three years.
In Trath na gCeist, Bornacoola took the title with a narrow win over neighbours Annaduff.
Aughnasheelin won their third title of the night in Novelty Act. It is thirty years since Aughnasheelin last won a Novelty Act title in Leitrim.
Finally the Rince Seit went to Bornacoola. Bornacoola were famous for their set dancers in the 1980s and 1990s so it was wonderful to see them back winning a county title again.

The Connacht Finals are in Tubbercurry on Sunday 26 March.

Update – Sunday – all bar 3 club games postponed
Club FootballThe recent bad weather has taken its toll as its possible that only 3 games out of 11 club games will proceed this weekend.
As of this morning (Sunday) only 1 league game will go ahead between Bornacoola and Sean O Heslins and Ballinaglera and Annaduff
This will put added pressure on the GAC as they have to schedule in the region of 465 fixtures for Clubs in 2007 of which approximately 366 are league games.
The County Senior game against Longford will definately go ahead after a pitch inspection earlier this morning.
