Last Sunday, Mohills Gavin Kelly came off the bench and scored a tally of 2-01 as Leitrim come from four points down at half-time to beat Fermanagh in a challenge match in Derrygonelly.

Leitrim played against a strong gale in the first half and went in at half time 0-06 to 0-02 down. This was a very good defensive performance by the Leitrim lads. Paul Ellis and Emmett Burke stood out at centre back and corner back as they knocked back attack after attack. Stephen Conaty at mid field also showed well.

The second half was a complete turn around as Leitrim took over in mid-field and Kelly hit 2-01 as well as setting up two other goals. Garry Reynolds, Ronan Kennedy and Dermot Reynolds also played well for the men in white and Blue. The Leitrim team fielded in the St Marys strip because of a clash of colours.

In a game that was ruined by the torrential rain seconds after throw-in, Annaduff bridged a 76 year gap when they beat Gortletteragh in the 2004 Masonite Senior Championship Final.

Having last picked up the title in 1928, Annaduff were outsiders to win against a strong Gortletteragh side who are perennial contenders. However, Annaduff proved to be the stronger side with the Gortletteragh fowards struggling to win possession and struggling even more to actually score!

Gortletteragh led by 0-3 to 0-2 at half-time, and were 0-4 to 0-3 ahead with twenty minutes left. However, Annaduff piled on the pressure and finally took the lead with twelve minutes. Gortletteragh had no answer and could only get one further point to bring the gap back to two points, but this was to be Annaduffs day.

Gortletteragh and Annaduff will face each other this Sunday in the Masonite Senior Football Championship Final. Gortletteragh haven t won the title since 1987, while Annaduff have a longer barren period behind them, having last brought home the laurels in 1928.

The 2004 Masonite Senior Football Championship kicks off this weekend. All games will be played on Saturday and Sunday evening in Cloone and Carrick-on-Shannon. Reigning Champions, St. Marys don t play in this series of games, but will get involved next weekend.

On Saturday, both Group 2 games will be played in Cloone, with Drumkeerin facing Bornacoola and Aughawillan taking on Mohill. InÓgroup 1, Cloone face St Caillins in Carrick, while the final game on Saturday will be between Carrigallen and Glenfarne/Kilty.

The heavyweights get involved on Sunday evening, with the tie of the round arguable between Melvin Gaels and Gortletteragh, both teams with strong aspirations for this year. However, both teams are languishing near the bottom of Division 1A, with only one win each so far this year. Ballinaglera v Annaduff completes the double bill in Carrick.

In Cloone, two of the favourites will be in action, with Aughavas facing Aughnasheelin, while Allen Gaels take on Sean O Heslins.

Check the fixtures page for full details.
