That Árd Comhairle appoints a committee to consider the implementation of a TMO (Television Match Official) at major games where adequate television coverage is available. This system to be trialled during 2019 by monitoring the occasions and situations where such a system could be availed of. This committee to produce its recommendations with regard to its implementation at the end of the Championship season.

All County Leagues
At the conclusion of the 2019 League playing season, Leagues to be restructured to into 6 divisions based on the following model:
Division 1 8 Teams
Division 2 8 Teams
Division 3 7 Teams
Reserve 1 8 Teams
Reserve 2 8 Teams
Reserve 3 7 Teams
Divisions 1-3 to contain only club first teams based on the respective finishing positions at the end of the 2019 playing season.
Reserve 1-3 to contain second and third teams based on the respective finishing positions at the end of the 2019 playing season.
Promotion and relegation would take place annually on a two up two down basis between Divisions 1 and 2 and 2 and 3. No relegation from Division 3.
Promotion and relegation would take place annually on a two up two down basis between Reserve 1-3. No promotion from Reserve 1.
Division 1-3
Two competitions to be played annually as follows:
Premier Competition which would involve 7 games in Divisions 1 and 2 and 6 games in Division 3. Promotion and relegation to be decided in this competition and all club’s players to be available for these rounds. Regular League titles to be awarded for these competitions with top 2 teams in each division contesting the respective finals.
Secondary Competition which would involve 7 games in Divisions 1 and 2 and 6 games in Division 3. These games to be played as reverse fixtures to the main competition with separate trophies, possibly to be named after significant former greats who have passed on, with top two teams contesting league finals. These games to be played while inter county season is in flow.
Reserve 1-3
One Competition to be played annually as follows:
This would involve 7 games in Divisions 4 and 5 and 6 games in Division 6. Promotion and relegation would be decided in this competition. Top 2 teams contest respective finals.
In all of the above League series Rule 6.21 TO 2018 shall be used to determine the places in the event of ties.

Leitrim GAA proposes to commence the restructuring of the County Championships from the end of the 2019 season as follows with the stated intention of reviewing this model at the end of the 2021 season with a clear view towards proposing a further reduction of teams at each championship grades at the higher levels depending on standards of play and competitiveness:

A round robin series to be played and concluded as normal, with top team in each of the 2 groups of 4 qualifying for the semi finals. First and second placed teams in the group of 3 plays a second placed team in the groups of 4 (open draw) in quarter finals. Semi finals draw to ensure that teams from same group do not meet at this stage. Teams in 3rd and 4th places in groups of 4 and 3rd place in group of 3 will be relegated to Junior B 2020.
Junior B Football Championship Winners 2019 will not be promoted to Junior A for 2020 only.
Net Result: 10 Teams in Junior A Championship 2020.

Junior B Football Championship 2019 (9 Teams)
Three Groups of 3 teams and to be played as in 2018. The first placed team in each group plus the best second placed team across the three groups will constitute the semi finalists. Semi final draws to ensure that teams from the same group will not meet at this stage. Beaten semi finalists play relegation play off with defeated team relegated along with the remaining five teams. No promotion of 2019 Championship winners and with the arrival of 5 additional teams in 2020 there is a probability of there being teams 14 to play here in 2020. With the uncertainty that arises at this level with teams affiliating/not affiliating on any given year, the following format to take place for 2020:
Junior B Football Championship 2020
5 relegated teams from Junior A 2019 plus Junior B Championship Finalists 2019 and Junior B 2019 relegation play off winner to form 2 groups of 4. Top two teams in each group play each other (1 v 2, 2 v 1) in championship semi finals. Bottom teams of each respective group play relegation final.
Junior C Football Championship 2020
6 relegated teams from the 2019 Junior B Championship (numbers based on 2018 affiliated teams) to be played off in respective groups of 3. The top 2 teams in each group will play championship semi finals. Winner of JFC C in 2020 to be promoted to JFC B 2021.
In all of the above Championship series Rule 6.21 TO 2018 shall be used to determine ties at the concluding stages of Round Robin Championship formats.

That in order to provide games for senior club players when the county panel are tied up with county team, a cup competition (To be named after a prominent Leitrim personality of the past) be organised for Div I teams on the following basis. Twelve teams to be divided into two groups of six (random selection) Each team play five games with top two contesting final. All Div I teams must take part with normal rules in regard to walk-overs applying. To be completed by end of June.

CCC to be given the authority include in its regulations the scheduling of two rounds of the All County Leagues that are to be exclusively played without members of the Leitrim Senior Football Panel in 2019 and the years beyond, while the current format of 12 Team leagues continues. Failure to adhere to this regulation will lead to a loss of points, with award to the other team for the said fixtures on a proven objection in accordance with Rule 7.10 TO 2018 by a club concerned.

The following motion was submitted by the CCC and published Coiste Chontae Liatrioma Comhdhail Bhliantuil 2018 and was passed at the first meeting of the Coiste Chontae Liatroma following convention
“CCC be given the authority to include in its regulations the scheduling of two round of the All County Leagues that are to be exclusively played without members of the Leitrim Senior Panel in 2018 and the years beyond while the current format of the 12 team leagues continues”
It is our current motion to repeal this motion and remove this provision

Ciorcail Comhrá – Irish Conversation Classes Ballinamore Library
GeneralBallinamore Library’s Irish classes are regarded as being some of the most successful in the country with big numbers attending and a most entertaining atmosphere. The Conversation classes, or Ciorcail Comhrá, are now in their thirteenth year and are hugely popular every year.
Full range of classes will start in Ballinamore Library on Tuesday, 8 January 2019 at 8.00pm. There are separate groups for relative beginners, for those who have some Irish and for those who are fluent. These classes are a great opportunity to practice the Irish you know and to improve it. Also, Leaving Cert or transitional year students will find it useful for practice for their Irish orals. Classes are free of charge and will run for 10 weeks to mid March. The late Brian Mulvey, Kiltoghert, County Leitrim and St. Mary’s GAA Club.
GeneralLeitrim GAA wishes to express its deepest sympathies to the family of the late Brian Mulvey, Kiltoghert, Ck-on-Shannon, and formerly of St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club. Brian passed away yesterday after a long illness bravely borne.
Brian Mulvey spent the entirety of his adult life in voluntary service to his beloved St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA club. As a player, he was the essence of what a club player should be, selfless, dedicated and above all loyal to the club cause. At underage level he won Under 14 and Under 16 County Championship medals. As a senior player over many years he was a St Mary’s stalwart. He played in three SFC Finals, 1977 as goalkeeper, 1983 as wingback and finally as goalkeeper in 1993 but ended up on the losing side on each occasion. When his playing career finished at the club’s highest level, he continued to lineout at the lower levels for many years, such was his love for the game. He played with and won an IFC medal in St. Mary’s glory year of 1995, the year the club captured a glorious treble of SFC, IFC and MFC titles. He went on to add JFC A, B and C medals as his playing career continued to a conclusion. Beyond his playing days, he moved seamlessly into the mentor’s role and was present on the sideline for many of club’s teams across all levels from underage right through to senior level, managing the St Mary’s Senior team in 2000. He would have been an almost ever present mentor to various successful club teams at Intermediate and Junior level over the years.
Brian was a ‘go-to man’ for St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA Club and if there was a job to do he would always be willing to help out or take charge of a task at hand. His presence at all St Mary’s Kiltoghert GAA events was a certainty, whether leading from the front or helping selflessly in the background. His dedication to the club’s cause was mirrored by his volunteerism at Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada. On any match day, big or small, Brian was always there. His role as chief steward on big match occasions could not be understated and he worked away in the background ensuring that all occasions were handled with extreme efficiency. His illness didn’t faze him in the slightest over recent times and Brian just got on with the job in hand. His presence was a certainty and that included the recent Connacht Club Championship matches played at Leitrim HQ last month.
Brian Mulvey will be sorely missed by all who knew him across GAA circles at all levels and indeed the many with whom he came in contact with during his long years of service with the ESB. It will be his family who will miss him the most and in this regard, we send our deepest sympathies to his daughter Bronagh, her husband Warren, Brian’s partner Geraldine, his brothers Michael and Joe, sisters Kay, Bridie, Peggy and Rosemary, his extended family and a very wide circle of colleagues and friends. Brian is predeceased by his late wife Breege, his son Barry and brother Cyril.

There was a large number of applicants for the Gaeltacht grants offered by Coiste Contae Liatroma. Leitrim County Board GAA was pleased to receive support from Leitrim County Council for this project. Grants of between €200 and €400 were awarded to the winners.

Scór na nÓg Liatroma Finals 2019
ScórThe Leitrim Scór na nOg County Final took place on Sunday last, December 2nd in the Mayflower, Drumshanbo. Paddy McDermott former all- Ireland quiz winner from Cavan did an excellent job hosting the table quiz final. With 12 teams taking part and a tight finish to the final round, Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins managed to claim the county title for 2019. The 4 young men qualify for the All-Ireland table quiz to be held in the TF Theatre in Castlebar next February. An added bonus and a great practice round is also provided by Coiste Connacht when they host a provincial round at their finals to be held in January. The main stage competition exceeded expectations in both numbers and talent. A huge amount of effort from clubs, with numbers very much increased on previous year’s finals. It was a proud day for Leitrim to host a final with entries in all disciplines, something that was not easily achieved around Connacht. Bean an Tí for the day was Sarah McWeeney from Aughnasheelan, having lots of experience as a competitor, she settled into the role with ease. Leitrim county finalist’s hopefuls took to the stage to present their best-polished performance to the judges from Monaghan. Well done to all 12 clubs who took part – Aughavas, Annaduff, Aughnasheelan, Allen Gaels, Ballinaglera, Fenagh, Glencar-Manorhamilton, Gortletteragh, Kiltubrid, Leitrim Gaels, Mohill and St Mary’s. It was a fabulous afternoon of music, song & dance. It was great to see some familiar faces returning to Scór Liatroma aris. Maith sibh go Leir.
Medals were presented to the winners by Chairperson of Leitrim’s Cathaoirleach Coiste Scór Claire Crossan. Club na mBliana was selected by the adjudicators and awarded to St Mary’s for their huge entries (11) in this year’s competition. The Cormac MacGiolla Shield was proudly presented to Laura Crossan, Cultural officer of St Mary’s by Ailbhe McGill, Bornacoola.

This system to be trialled during 2019 by monitoring the occasions and situations where such a system could be availed of. This committee to produce its recommendations with regard to its implementation at the end of the Championship season.

At the conclusion of the 2019 League playing season, Leagues to be restructured to into 6 divisions based on the following model:
Division 1 8 Teams

Divisions 1-3 to contain only club first teams based on the respective finishing positions at the end of the 2019 playing season.
Reserve 1-3 to contain second and third teams based on the respective finishing positions at the end of the 2019 playing season.
Promotion and relegation would take place annually on a two up two down basis between Divisions 1 and 2 and 2 and 3. No relegation from Division 3.

Division 1-3
Two competitions to be played annually as follows:
Premier Competition which would involve 7 games in Divisions 1 and 2 and 6 games in Division 3. Promotion and relegation to be decided in this competition and all club’s players to be available for these rounds. Regular League titles to be awarded for these competitions with top 2 teams in each division contesting the respective finals.
Secondary Competition which would involve 7 games in Divisions 1 and 2 and 6 games in Division 3. These games to be played as reverse fixtures to the main competition with separate trophies, possibly to be named after significant former greats who have passed on, with top two teams contesting league finals. These games to be played while inter county season is in flow.
Reserve 1-3
One Competition to be played annually as follows:
This would involve 7 games in Divisions 4 and 5 and 6 games in Division 6. Promotion and relegation would be decided in this competition. Top 2 teams contest respective finals.
In all of the above League series Rule 6.21 TO 2018 shall be used to determine the places in the event of ties.

Leitrim GAA proposes to commence the restructuring of the County Championships from the end of the 2019 season as follows with the stated intention of reviewing this model at the end of the 2021 season with a clear view towards proposing a further reduction of teams at each championship grades at the higher levels depending on standards of play and competitiveness:

A round robin series to be played and concluded as normal, with top team in each of the 2 groups of 4 qualifying for the semi finals. First and second placed teams in the group of 3 plays a second placed team in the groups of 4 (open draw) in quarter finals. Semi finals draw to ensure that teams from same group do not meet at this stage. Teams in 3rd and 4th places in groups of 4 and 3rd place in group of 3 will be relegated to Junior B 2020.
Junior B Football Championship Winners 2019 will not be promoted to Junior A for 2020 only.
Net Result: 10 Teams in Junior A Championship 2020.
2020 Junior A Football Championship
Two Groups of 5 with each team playing each other in round robin series. Top placed team in each group to qualify for the semi finals. The second and third placed teams will play each other in quarter finals (2 v 3, 3 v 2). Open draw in semi finals with top placed teams after group stages kept apart in this draw. Bottom placed team in each group to play each other in relegation final with losing team to be relegated.
Seeding to be introduced into the 2020 Junior A Championship draw.
Junior B Football Championship 2019 (9 Teams)
Three Groups of 3 teams and to be played as in 2018. The first placed team in each group plus the best second placed team across the three groups will constitute the semi finalists. Semi final draws to ensure that teams from the same group will not meet at this stage. Beaten semi finalists play relegation play off with defeated team relegated along with the remaining five teams. No promotion of 2019 Championship winners and with the arrival of 5 additional teams in 2020 there is a probability of there being teams 14 to play here in 2020. With the uncertainty that arises at this level with teams affiliating/not affiliating on any given year, the following format to take place for 2020:
Junior B Football Championship 2020
5 relegated teams from Junior A 2019 plus Junior B Championship Finalists 2019 and Junior B 2019 relegation play off winner to form 2 groups of 4. Top two teams in each group play each other (1 v 2, 2 v 1) in championship semi finals. Bottom teams of each respective group play relegation final.
Junior C Football Championship 2020
6 relegated teams from the 2019 Junior B Championship (numbers based on 2018 affiliated teams) to be played off in respective groups of 3. The top 2 teams in each group will play championship semi finals. Winner of JFC C in 2020 to be promoted to JFC B 2021.
In all of the above Championship series Rule 6.21 TO 2018 shall be used to determine ties at the concluding stages of Round Robin Championship formats.

That in order to provide games for senior club players when the county panel are tied up with county team, a cup competition (To be named after a prominent Leitrim personality of the past) be organised for Div I teams on the following basis. Twelve teams to be divided into two groups of six (random selection) Each team play five games with top two contesting final. All Div I teams must take part with normal rules in regard to walk-overs applying. To be completed by end of June.

CCC to be given the authority include in its regulations the scheduling of two rounds of the All County Leagues that are to be exclusively played without members of the Leitrim Senior Football Panel in 2019 and the years beyond, while the current format of 12 Team leagues continues. Failure to adhere to this regulation will lead to a loss of points, with award to the other team for the said fixtures on a proven objection in accordance with Rule 7.10 TO 2018 by a club concerned.

The following motion was submitted by the CCC and published Coiste Chontae Liatrioma Comhdhail Bhliantuil 2018 and was passed at the first meeting of the Coiste Chontae Liatroma following convention
“CCC be given the authority to include in its regulations the scheduling of two round of the All County Leagues that are to be exclusively played without members of the Leitrim Senior Panel in 2018 and the years beyond while the current format of the 12 team leagues continues”
It is our current motion to repeal this motion and remove this provision

Carrick Hurlers Create History With Connacht Junior Hurling Success
Club HurlingOur congratulations are extended to the hurlers of Carrick Hurling Club who captured the Connacht Junior Hurling Championship following a 2-11 to 2-9 victory over Galway Junior Hurling Champs Ballygar. Having qualified for the final last Monday with a victory over Sligo Champions Coolera/Strandhill, they were determined not to let this chance of provincial glory slip from their grasp. Ahead at the break 0-6 to 0-5, they stormed their way to victory in the second period and withstood all the Ballygar lads could throw at them. Captain James Glancy accepted the cup on behalf of his delighted teammates while Clement Cunniffe was Man of the Match with a return of 1-6. Next up for the Carrick boys is a meeting with the Ulster champions, still to be declared, in January 2019. Interestingly, this is the first time ever that a male team from Leitrim has won a provincial club title after defeats in 13 finals across all grades and codes. Savour the moment!!

County HurlingCongratulations and well done to Carrick Hurling Club and Leitrim Hurler Declan Molloy who was presented with his Nicky Rackard/Lory Meagher Champions 15 award at tonight’s PwC All-Star Awards function tonight. It is a tremendous individual award for the Carrick Hurling netminder. Best wishes also to Declan and teammates in tomorrow’s Connacht Junior Club Hurling Championship Final in the Connacht GAA Centre at 2pm.

Leitrim GAA is delighted to announce, on County Senior and Intermediate Finals day, that JP Clarke’s Saloon, McLean Avenue, Yonkers, New York, will be the new sponsor of the Leitrim Senior Football team, taking over from the Bush Hotel which has been the main sponsor of county teams since it was announced at Convention in December 2009. The sponsorship deal is for three years, commencing in January 2019 to coincide with the start of the Connacht FBD Insurance Competition and Allianz Football League.
JP Clarke’s has been a home base for travelling Leitrim teams and supporters since Leitrim’s first Connacht championship match against New York in 2003 and also on the more recent trips of 2008, 2013 and 2018. The Leitrim players and management have been hugely impressed with the welcome and hospitality they have received over the years, and would like to take this opportunity to thank Seamus and Caitríona Clarke and their staff for all their help and generosity during our visits.
While it is unique for a county team to have a sponsor from the USA, it also reflects the strong connection between Leitrim and New York, and especially the ties between Leitrim and the Woodlawn/Yonkers section of New York which is often referred to as ‘Little Leitrim’.
When asked what sponsoring the Leitrim team means to him, Seamus Clarke replied, ‘Well, I suppose the Bard of Ballycarry put it best when he wrote: “The savage loves his native shore though rude the soil and chill the air.” It’s a great honor for me and all of us here at JP Clarke’s to sponsor our county and to show our appreciation for the support and loyalty shown to us by our Leitrim customers and the many Leitrim visitors who drop in to visit us each year.’
Seamus Clarke hails from the parish of Gortletteragh and his wife Caitríona, a Drumshanbo native, is the daughter of the late Leo Kenny who served as an officer of Leitrim GAA and the Connacht GAA Council for a long number of years. He held the position of Leas Uachtarán of Comhairle Connacht before his untimely death in 2000. Caitríona’s brother Padraig won a Connacht SFC medal with Leitrim in 1994.
Leitrim GAA looks forward to a fruitful partnership with JP Clarke’s and we look forward to mutual success. We thank Seamus and Caitriona Clarke for the confidence they have placed in us and we will carry their brand onto the field of play with pride over the period 2019-2021.

Fenagh Cup-the most sought after Prize in Leitrim Club Football.
Club FootballFirst presented in 1966 the Fenagh Cup has since rested in Aughawillan for the winters of 1976, 1978, 1983, 1984, 1989, 1992, 1993,1994, 2014 and 2016. Aughawillan, then trading under the banner of Kiltyhugh won their first title in 1923. Mohill who previously won titles in 1890, 1914 and 1929 got to harbour the Fenagh Cup for the winters of 1971, 2006, 2015 and 2017. Where will it spend the winter of 2018? Throw in is at 3pm tomorrow in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada. The Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship Final is preceded by the Smith Monumentals Intermediate Football Final between Annaduff and Fenagh St. Caillin’s at 1pm.

HandballConnacht 60×30 Finals – Leitrim handballers were involved in two Connacht finals at the weekend, Intermediate singles, and Junior doubles, In the Intermediate final Martin Raftery came up against Galway’s Kevin Craddock. The Galway man completely dominated both games, defeating Martin 21-9, 21-3. The Junior pairing of Leo Logan and Jamie Murray fared no better in the Junior final, coming up against a strong Roscommon pairing of Denis Creaton and Sean Jennings, losing on a score line of 21-7, 21-4. Those finals were played in Williamstown and Collooney respectfully.
Connacht Gold SFC and Smith Monumentals IFC Finals Information
Club FootballThe stage is set for our County Senior and Intermediate Finals on Sunday next in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada. The Connacht Gold SFC Final brings together the two best championship teams of the past five seasons. Between them, Aughawillan (2014 and 2016) and Mohill (2015 and 2017) have shared the last four titles and Sunday’s battle will crown the better championship team in their best of five years mini-series. It should be some contest and one that is eagerly awaited!
The Smith Monumentals IFC decider brings together Annaduff and Fenagh St Caillin’s who have proved to be the best teams in this year’s competition. Annaduff, energised in 2018 following their relegation from senior ranks in 2017 will be determined for an immediate return to senior ranks and Fenagh St Caillin’s, who have had brilliant underage success over the most recent part of the last decade, will be hoping to continue their upward curve. It will be a fascinating duel.
