The Cycle Against Suicide will visit Carrick On Shannon on 5th May 2018 and this will be the second last day of a 10 Cycle Across Ireland.  We are hoping that all the local clubs will promote the Cycle on their Facebook Page and/or Twitter.
Cycle Against Suicide operates a Homestay Programme – this allows the local community to get involved and support without having to get on a bike. So what I am hoping to get is a local family to host one of the cyclists in their home – collect them on arrival, shower, warm meal, bed and leave back to start the next day. Bikes are stored overnight so it’s only the cyclist.
Any help also in coordinating the event would be most welcome. If you have any more questions please do not hesitate to contact me by return email or my number is 087 2249 204
Kind regards,

Many thanks and credit to our Bean an Ti, Friday night was compered by St Marys Laura Crossan who kept the busy evening ticking over at a steady pace. The County Final took place last Saturday, March 10th in the Mayflower, Drumshanbo. Carrigallen’s Aoife Ni Mhaille hosted the Senior table quiz final & Bean an Tí for the evening’s stage competition was St Mary’s Laura Crossan. Though disheartening not to have an entry for all 7, It was strong and very entertaining competition. Leitrim has a tradition at all Ireland level from past years for being strong in Figure, Leiriu and Music, disappointing to see no club entry for any of these on Saturday night. However, it was fantastic to have some familiar faces returning to Scór Liatroma aris. Maith sibh go Leir. The quiz was held in the full table quiz format prior to the stage competition. Bornacoola emerged the winners after a tight 10 rounds were complete. Bornacoola are now our Leitrim team for the 32 county All-Ireland final. All-Ireland 40×20 Junior B Semi-Final – There was no joy for Jarlath Scollan in the Junior B All-Ireland Semi-Final where he suffered defeat at the hands of Waterford’s Kavan O’Keefe, losing on a scoreline of 5-21, 18-21. Although Jarlath got off to a strong start in the first game going 4-0 up, O’Keefe took control and completely dominated the game with fantastic kill shots and top class serving. The second game started the same way with Scollan again going 4-0 up before losing serve, but unlike the first game, he won some key rallies, keeping the Waterford man under pressure. Trailing 14-19 he regained serve and with an upset looking likely, he lost a crucial rally at 18-19. O’Keefe then edged out a victory taking the game 21-18.

Great news tonight from the Cumann na mBunscol National Awards Ceremony in Kilkenny as Cumann na mBunscol Liatroma has taken the National Award for the Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture for its ongoing Hurling Initiative. The initiative which was piloted in six schools from Hallowe’en to Christmas and has since seen the project move on to six other schools this term, has beaten off stiff competition from Cork and Dublin to take the National Award, sponsored by Cornmarket. Well done again to all the schools to date, its pupils and teachers, who have taken this initiative in their stride and we look forward to the continued growth of this project in remaining Leitrim schools. The in-school success has been driven by teaching staffs at the various locations and we are delighted with their enthusiasm. Well done also to the officials of Cumann na mBunscol Liatroma who have worked very hard in pushing this project out with very valued assistance from Leitrim Coaching and Games Development and Hurling Coach Michael Carroll.

Armagh and Crossmaglen legend Oisin McConville was interviewed by John Lynch at a recent Leitrim GAA Coaching workshop.
The well-attended workshop delivered by McConville and held at the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence was based on the theme “Effective Forward Play and Decision making in front of goals”.

The Information Evening for Club Insurance Officers will take on Monday night next at 8pm. The venue for this important event is the Landmark Hotel, Ck-on-Shannon and not the Bush Hotel as previously notified. All clubs are encouraged to have a representative at this meeting.
