Coaching and Games Development Under 11 Blitz

County Coaching and Games Development U11 Blitz took place in Annaduff Centre of Excellence tonight. It was a huge success and our thanks are extended to all clubs who attended and mentors of the teams who helped organise.
A special word of thanks to Brian Blake for having the centre in wonderful playing condition and finally to Annaduff GAA club for use of their goalposts. Teams from Mohill, Bornacoola, Aughawillan/Drumreilly, Kiltubrid, St Mary’s Kiltoghert(2), Glencar/Manorhamilton(2), Dromahair St Patrick’s and Fenagh St Caillin’s played this evening and had a great experience.

‘Game Senses’ Workshop with John Morrison on November 9

Leitrim GAA Coaching and Games Development Committee is delighted to welcome back former Leitrim Senior Coach John Morrison to the county on Thursday evening November 9th next as he conducts a ‘Game Senses’ coaching workshop at County Centre of Excellence.

The cost of the workshop will be €5.

Connacht Senior Football Championship Draw 2018

We all knew of the pending New York encounter in the quarter-final of the Connacht Senior Football Championship 2018, as we look forward to our fourth visit since 2003 to the Bronx on May 6th next. Of course, we cannot afford to look any further ahead than this always difficult assignment in Gaelic Park, but should we be successful in our first Connacht Championship outing, we now know that neighbours Roscommon, the current Connacht Champions await in the provincial semi-final, a match that would be played in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, following tonight’s eagerly awaited draw.

On the other side of the draw, Sligo will meet London in Ruislip, while Galway and Mayo clash in Castlebar in the remaining quarter-finals, with the respective victors meeting in the other provincial semi-final. All in all, the draw has almost mirrored the 2017 campaign, with London and New York swapping sides!!

Gaeltacht Scholarships

Leitrim County Committee GAA is offering grants for attendance at Gaeltacht courses to Leitrim boys and girls as part of their promotion of an Ghaeilge. These grants are open to registered and paid-up members of Leitrim GAA clubs, boys or girls.

Some of the grants are part-sponsored by Gaeltacht colleges. In the case of cash grants, when students return they can claim their grant money on production of evidence of having successfully completed the course.

Application forms can be printed from the link below or can be had had from the Secretary of any GAA club.

Rule 6.21(4) will determine Table Placings in both Competitions.

Venues: First team out to have home advantage. If home team’s pitch or home team’s nominated pitch is unplayable they must travel to their opponent’s pitch. If the opponent’s pitch is unplayable the CCC will decide on an alternative venue.

Finals at neutral venues

The 13 a side will start on Sunday, October 29th @ 12 noon.

The start date for the 15 aside will depend on Aughnasheelin/Mohill progress in Connacht Club Championships.

Club Forum Postponed tomorrow night

Due to the nationwide red alert as a result of Storm Ophelia tomorrow night’s Club Forum has been postponed. It will take place on Monday night, October 23rd.

Carrick Hurlers take 32nd County Senior Hurling Title

Our congratulations to the hurlers of Carrick Hurling Club who earlier this afternoon claimed the club’s 32nd County SHC title with a clear 3-11 to 0-8 victory over Cluainín Iomáint. Played in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, the Carrick lads were into their stride from early on and held a 1-5 to 0-5 halftime advantage. They quickly added to this advantage and two late goals by Liam and Colm Moreton cemented the title win over a luckless Cluainín team. Man of the match was Colm Moreton who scored 1-5 while his brother Liam added the other two goals. It was heartbreaking for the lads from Manorhamilton as they have been defeated in the SFC and SHC Finals in the space of seven days. Nonetheless, for the Carrick Hurlers, this title is a most fitting tribute to the late Bernard Murray, their staunchest member over many years who passed away suddenly last month.
