Connacht GAA Club Minor Football Championship 2015
Connacht GAA are delighted to announce details of the inaugural Connacht GAA Club Minor Football Championship 2015. This initiative which was promoted through the provincial Coaching & Games Committee will see the County Champions in the Minor A and B grades compete in the Connacht Club Championship. The games will be played on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November in the Connacht GAA Centre. (Complete fixture schedule below)
Last weekend saw the Leitrim winners, Melvin Gaels, defeat Sligo winners Calry/St. Josephs, 2-13 to 0-11 in the quarter final of the Connacht GAA Minor B Club Football Championship. They now progress to play Oranmore-Maree in the first semi-final with Knockmore from Mayo taking on Oran from Roscommon in the other semi-final.
The Connacht GAA Minor A Club Football Championship will see the winners from Sligo, St. Mary’s take on Leitrim Champions, St. Manachan’s in the provincial quarter final this Sunday, 1st November, in Kent park Sligo. The winners of this fixture will face Galway’s Salthill/Knocknacarra in the first of the semi-finals. The second semi-final will pit Claremorris(Mayo) against Roscommon champions Padraig Pearses. The Connacht GAA Minor A Club Football Championship trophy is named after the late Fr. Oliver Hughes who dedicated so much of his life to developing footballers through his involvement with various clubs and of course the famed St. Jarlaths.
In commenting on the competitions, John Tobin said, ‘I am looking forward to these games and I have no doubt that we will see football of a high standard, giving further evidence of the enormous work being carried out with the young players within their clubs. We have a very strong base of coaching within the province and this competition provides clubs with an opportunity to compete at a higher level’.

Scór Update
ScórScór time of year again and this year’s season is being widely promoted as a cultural year for the competition, celebrating 100 years of the 1916 rising. Starting with the Connacht Council GAA Initiative of the 2016 launch night in the GAA Centre of Excellence, Ballyhaunis on November 3rd last.
This years Scór na nÓg competition dates have been brought slightly forward in conjunction with last years new guidelines set out by An Coiste Náisiúnta Scór.
County Finals: To be completed at least two weeks prior to the Provincial Competition.
Provincial Finals: Connacht Finals are to be completed one calendar month in advance of the All Ireland Final.
Scór na nÓg Liatroma 2016 Dates:
Leitrim Semi Final: Saturday 21st November 2015 – Drumkeerin at 6.00pm
Leitrim Semi Final: Sunday 22nd November 2015 – Fenagh at 3.00pm
Leitrim County Final: Sunday 29th November 2015 at 2.00pm
Connacht Final: Saturday 12th December 2015 at 2pm in Claremorris, Co Mayo
Please note this years Scór na nÓg Participants must be Under 17 on January 1st 2016.

As part of their newly developed strategy for reviving Scór, Coiste Scór Chonnacht are hosting the Launch of Scór 2016 in the Centre of excellence Bekan Ballyhaunis, on Tuesday night November 3rd.
This promises to be a huge night’s entertainment with previous Connacht and all Ireland winners taking to the stage once again.
The Bean an Ti for the night is none other than Carole Coleman of RTE, renowned author and broadcaster. Carole has represented St Mary’s Gaa club in Leitrim in Scór, and will be giving a rendition of her favourite ballad on the night. Also in attendance will be the Cathairleacht Scór Naisiúnta Antoin MacGabhan and Runai Siobhan Ni Chúnna. The launch will be done by Cathairleacht of Comhairle Chonnacht Mick Rock a former participant in Scór himself.
Coiste Scór Chonnachta are going to great lengths to revitalise Scór and this launch is part of the strategy. County board and Club officers from the province, and anybody interested inÓgood nights entertainment is invited to attend what promises to be a huge night entertainment. Admission is free and everybody is welcome.
