2015 GAA Open nights Week – 4th – 10th of May

Leitrim GAA Open night Monday 4th May 2015 5pm

Each year since 2012, the GAA has had coordinated County Open nights in advance of the Championship Season. The Leitrim Open night will take place in Páirc Sean Mac Diarmada on Monday next, May 4, commencing at 5pm. This will provide an opportunity for people of all ages to come in and meet their county players of both codes and engage in pitch activities. It is essentially a family evening and what better way to round off the Bank Holiday Weekend than to spend it engaging with the footballers who have worked so hard all spring to ensure that they will be at their best facing Galway/New York in Páirc Sean Mac Diarmada on May 17th and also the County Hurlers who will commence their Lory Meagher Cup Campaign v Sligo on Saturday next in Ballinamore.

The County Minor Footballers who are busily preparing for the Connacht MFC in June will also be in attendance.

Young players attending are encouraged to wear County/Club Colours and wear footwear that will allow them to participate fully.

Leitrim GAA looks forward to an exciting evening!

He will be sadly missed by his family, his adored grandchildren, daughters-in-law Rebecca and Louise, son-in-law David, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and his many friends.

Junior 40×20 Nationals

There was no joy for Leitrims handballers in the 40×20 Junior Nationals at the weekend with all three finalists bowing out after reaching the last 16 in their respective grades. Alan Wrynne (U17) travelled to Clarecastle Co. Clare where he defeated Padraic ODriscoll (Cork) 21-14,21-12. He then took on Jamie Kelly (Galway), for a place in the quarter finals but was defeated on a score of 6-21, 3-21. On the other side of the draw his doubles partner Jarlath Scollan took on Ben Devlin (Louth) in Kingscourt Co. Cavan and won on a score line of 21-19, 21-15. In the next game he came up against All-Ireland U17 Champion Sean Muddiman (Kildare) where he was defeated 12-21, 12-21. Cormac Scollan U13 who was also playing in Kingscourt  defeated Caolan McCartan (Tyrone) 15-13,15-12 in his first round match.
