Ulster GAA in partnership with South West College is now offering the Level 3 Diploma in Performance Coaching in gaelic Games.

This course is aimed at holders of GAA Level 1 who are currently managing / coaching a GAA team at youth / adult level.

There will be an information evening on Monday 3rd November at 7.00pm in the Enniskillen Campus.

Hard Luck to both Oughteragh Gaels and Fenagh who were defeated in their Connacht Club matches at the weekend.

 

Celebratory night:

Leitrim LGFA will be having a celebratory night for the Intermediate and Minor county teams, where they will be presented with their Connacht Medals.  It will be held on Saturday the 1st of November in The Landmark Hotel Carrick-on-Shannon.  All clubs are encouraged to attend.  More information regarding the event will be posted in the next coming few weeks.

Scór time of year again and this year’s season has been brought slightly forward in conjunction with new guidelines set out by An Coiste Náisiúnta Scór.

County Final: To be completed at least two (2) weeks prior to the Provincial Competition.

Provincial Championship: (Connacht) is to be completed one calendar month in advance of the All Ireland final.

Junior All-Ireland final will be held on February 15th 2015 in Citywest Dublin.  As a result Leitrim’s Scór semi finals and final will all take place before the Christmas holidays, dates as follows.

Saturday 22nd November 2014 – Mayflower, Drumshanbo at 5.00pm
Sunday 23rd November 2014 – Fenagh at 3.00pm

Finals in the Bee Park Community Centre, Manorhamilton on Sunday 7th December 2014 at 2.00pm

Scór na mBunscoileanna dates have also changed to January 2015, to allow clubs and schools time to prepare for both competitions.

Dates as follows:

Thursday 22nd January – Mayflower, Drumshanbo at 6.00pm

Friday 23 January – Mayflower, Drumshanbo , at 6.00pm

A new Code of Behaviour (Underage) comes into effect on 1 November 2014. This is a joint Code shared by all of the Gaelic Games Associations.

The Code of Behaviour (Underage) is a mandatory Code for all persons working in any role of responsibility with Children in the GAA, Camogie, Ladies Football, Rounders or Handball, and has been adopted by our relevant Central Councils and is in accordance with Rule.

Connacht 60×30 Juvenile B Championship Finals

In another first for Fenagh Handball Alley, the Connacht 60×30 Juvenile B Championship finals were played there on Sunday last. Leitrim was represented by Fergal McLoughlin and Caolan McDermott (U12 Doubles) and David Wrynn (U15), all from Fenagh. David Wrynn had to settle for silver after coming up against a stronger Khalid Yehkyaev (Roscommon) losing out on a score line of 13-15, 4-15. Fergal McLoughlin and Caolan McDermott took the U12 Doubles title with a great victory over Jack Glynn and Anthony Dunne (Galway) winning on a score line of 15-8, 15-4.

Connacht GAA Bursary Awards 2014/15

Connacht GAA, in support of the National Student Bursary Scheme, will award bursaries of €750 to students attending Higher Education colleges as part of its ongoing commitment to Player Welfare.

The scheme, which is now in its eighth year, will be open to members of the Association who are attending a full-time Higher Education course and who are active participants in their Higher Education club. Students who hold other GAA-related or a college scholarship/bursary will not be eligible to apply.

Connacht GAA welcomes applications from those students in our province, (Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon & Sligo), regardless whether their attendance is at a college inside or outside of Connacht”.

Each bursary granted will be for €750 and payment will be made annually in two instalments of €375. Further information and application forms for this year’s scheme are currently available to download from this link.

Senior Inter-county players who were on their County’s Senior Panel in 2014 should apply for Bursaries via the Gaelic Players Association; further information at www.gaelicplayers.com.

Junior Championship:
 
Congratulations to Fenagh who defeated Gortletteragh in the Coxs Steakhouse Junior Championship final last Saturday. Fenagh will now represent Leitrim in the Connacht Club Junior Semi Final this Sunday the 12th of October. They will play St Ciarans in Kilglass at 12:30pm. We wish them the very best of luck!
 
Connacht Club Intermediate Semi Final:
Best wishes to Oughteragh Gaels who will be representing Leitrim in the Connacht Intermediate Semi Final this Sunday the 12th of October in Ballyhaunis GAA grounds, Co.Mayo. They will be playing Clonbur at 1pm.
 
Divison 1 League Final:
St Josephs will play Aughawillan in the Division 1 League Final this Saturday the 11th of October in Cloone at 4pm. Best of luck to both teams.
