Home From Home is a series of two one-hour films broadcasting on Setanta Sports on August 26th and 27th at 9.45pm. It tells the story of Irish emigration through that most unique of Irish institutions, the GAA. The series documents the stories of both the well established and newly arrived members of four overseas GAA clubs based in Christchurch, Dubai, London and Toronto.

Of local interest, there is a feature on Charlotte Faughnan, former Leitrim ladies footballer of the year who had recently emigrated to the city.

This Sunday the London Senior Football Championship final between Fulham Irish and Tír Chonnaill Gaels takes place in Ruislip and there will be a strong Leitrim flavour to it.

Fulham Irish will be captained by former Leitrim star David OConnor from Bornacoola and he will be joined on the team by another former Leitrim great DeclanÓgilhooley from the Allen Gaels club.  Another Leitrim connection with the team will be former Cavan player Lorcan Mulvey whose uncle Tom Guckian is a prominent member of the St Marys club while Sean OHeslins will have selector Peter Reynolds patrolling the sidelines.  Meanwhile on the other side, former Leitrim player and Manager Brian “Barney” Breen from the Sean OHeslins club is managing Tír Chonnaill Gaels.

Fulham Irish will  be appearing in only their second ever County Final, having won on their previous appearance in 2011 when they defeated Parnells.  Their opponents, Tír Chonaill Gaels, are Londons most successful club who have won the championship on 14 previous occasions and were defeated by a single point in last years final by Kingdom Kerry Gaels. Ironically, when Tír Chonaill Gaels won the London Championship in 2009, at centre field for them was another Leitrim stalwart, Bornacoolas Gary Mc Closkey.

Leitrim GAA will stay neutral on this one and wish both teams the best of luck in the Final.
